Tiquicia Town Gallery
This is the place to post your psychological portrait of (1) one famous Costa Rican or (2) a fictional character based on Costa Rican personality traits. The poem should be based on the characters of Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology or Edwin Arlington Robinson's Tilbury Town.

Doña Pura
Every night prays Doña Pura
and every night she achieves
salvation.Right after she speaks to el cura often forgets about war, sin or starvation.
Every night she tunes the news
and freaks about la gripe porcina
leave her alone for a month, she
will forget all the fuss, and she
will remain metida en la cocina.
Such drive moves all the affairs of
Pura to gain access to heaven cooking for el cura.

Mr. Nose
I was born in a gold craddle
crème de la crème!
best of the best glory of all,
but with a big nose inherited from dad & mom.
My destiny, to be the king
of the small kingdom
in the 20th Century
following my father's crowning...
I had everything, but I wanted more
that's why I stole
what my valet needed more, so,
the power from my throne was gone.
Answers and trials passed through,
my innocence could not be proved
still I wish to get back the trust of the fool
and be again what I used to.

"Mother" said the child again
"Who was Gloria Pérez Sosa"
The mother, looking down at the stone, answered:
"She was a woman who...
Whenever someone asked her to do something
cheerfully would answer "Tomorrow"
Who when her mother died
And needed to be burried
Sadly answered "Not today, Tommorrow"
Who when the doctor told her "Push"
Painfully answered "To-mo-rrow"
Who when lying down on the railroad
Heard some people screaming "MOVE!!!"
Stupidly answered "Not now, Tomorrow"
And what happened then? hurridly asked the child
"That Tomorrow never came" The mother said.

Every Friday night,
beers are the plan,
the match is about to start
I have to wear my red and shirt.
Cold eagles in our hands
and a chifrijo by our side.
We are ready to scream, the goal is coming away.
Suddenly I can not see
The lights go out with our frustrated screams.

Dolores Alegría
The day Dolores was born
Was the same day her mother died.
Her childhood was O.K.
Until her goldfish died.
As soon as she grew older
Her loving father died.
Then when her true love arrived,
His heart failed and died.
Hard to find, she got engaged;
And set up the day.
However, the day never came
For the groom was dead.
Nine months later, she was on labor.
She thought she was going to be happy at last.
But she ran with her mother's fate:
She died giving birth in the happiest day of her life to her daughter Soledad Chain.
